Hailed as an “exciting singer with a killer voice” (Chris Ruel, Operawire), Sara Kennedy is an American soprano from Austin, Texas. Renowned for her rich, powerful sound and commanding stage presence, she is establishing herself as an important emerging artist in both traditional and contemporary repertoire.

Recent engagements include Miranda in the world staged premiere of Joseph Summer’s The Tempest with Teatro Grattacielo, Valencienne in The Merry Widow with Sarasota Opera, and Bianca in Zemlinsky’s Eine florentinische Tragödie with the Little Opera Theatre of New York. Other previous appearances include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Musetta in La bohème, Annina in La traviata, and numerous cover assignments with Florida Grand Opera and Sarasota Opera. She has also performed leading roles including Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with regional companies throughout the United States.

An advocate for contemporary opera, Sara has appeared in multiple world premieres, including Nicolas Flagello’s Beyond the Horizon and Joseph Summer’s The Tempest. Her concert appearances include performances with the Abilene Philharmonic, OperaFest Sewanee, and international appearances in the Czech Republic.

Sara is represented by Insignia Artists and is a recipient of the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust Award, the SOA Gunther & Ilse Kern Grant for Outstanding Opera Artists, and the Wednesday Morning Music Club Fielder Grant for Career Advancement. As she continues to transition into lyric and spinto repertoire, she remains committed to artistic growth, meaningful storytelling, and building a sustainable international career in opera.
